Therapy

SomaTherapy (manual etiotherapy) and SomaTraining are founded on traditional osteopathic philosophy and principles of sports science. This approach is dedicated to addressing the root cause of your condition, while managing symptoms. By integrating these disciplines, I aim to provide comprehensive care that targets the underlying issues affecting your health and well-being.

Central to this method is the recognition of the critical role played by the fascia in the body's intrinsic anatomy and biomechanics. We understand that injuries and dysfunctions often stem from imbalances within the fascial system. With meticulous attention to detail, SOMA techniques are designed to precisely address these issues, offering a more targeted and effective treatment approach, which sets it apart from other healthcare modalities.

Peter treats a variety of injuries and health conditions, the below is a selection of frequent treatments. If unsure, please get in touch.

It is a gently osteopathic manual therapy approach that focuses on the mobilisation and optimisation of the internal organs and their surrounding fascial structures. Peter uses specific techniques to reposition and release tension within visceral tissues, which can result in improved circulation, reduced pain, and enhanced overall well-being. This approach recognises the intricate connections between body systems, promoting healing by nurturing the body's inherent ability to self-regulate and repair.

The process

  • This is to understand your lifestyle, training and injury history and sequence of events leading to the present moment. We then begin by conducting a thorough assessment to understand the underlying mechanics that may play a role in your current condition. This is essential for goal setting and program design and designed to determine physical imbalances and areas needing strengthening, stretching, or a combination of modalities.

  • Based on the evaluation findings, Peter develops a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals.

  • This is the execution part of the above plan. Based on your needs and goal this may be manual therapy combined with exercise therapy or exercise training only.

  • Throughout your progress, Peter provides ongoing coaching as well as different exercise tools designed to support your progress. Your home program is a filmed exercise routine, to be done at home, which addresses what is shown in your evaluation.
